One of the perks of our job is getting to be a tourist in our own state. It’s awesome. Many times we find ourselves on location for a photo shoot where we wouldn’t ordinarily visit. Kaitlin and Ryan chose Water Place Park and the Rhode Island State House. One fun fact about our state house is that it has the fourth-largest self-supporting marble dome in the world. In the WORLD! Every child who grew up in this state learns that fact and has at least one field trip where they marvel looking up at the dome and whispers of “fourth largest unsupported dome in the world” can be heard all around.  So, to go there with our cameras and the vibrancy of Kaitlin and Ryan was a great treat. This wonderful couple has a joie de vivre which can be seen and felt in their portraits. Kaitlin is a classic beauty and together she and Ryan make a most lovely couple. This was a wonderful day that will be remembered for a long, long time. XO

There is no better place for a super fun couple to have their engagement session than at a carousel! Elizabeth and Alex chose the Crescent Park Carousel in East Providence, RI. The hand carved carousel was built in 1895 and was once part of Crescent Park Amusement Park. There is even a golden ring that you can catch if you’re fast enough. This ring was also used as a faux proposal prop in our session! Elizabeth wore her mother’s vintage sundress and brought along a sweet parasol and a hand painted save the date sign. Alex and Elizabeth are bubbling with personality, maybe it’s their theater background, maybe it’s because of Elizabeth’s dancing skills, or maybe it’s because they simply bring out the best in each other. Love has a way of doing that.

We have been waiting and waiting to do an engagement session at Buttonwood Farm! An entire acre of sunflowers is planted each year and when they bloom it’s pure magic. We were overjoyed to go this summer with Marissa and Carl for their engagement session. You can’t say Marissa without using the word adorable in the same sentence. You also can’t say Marissa without Marisa thinking you’re talking to her. (they are pronounced differently, people!) Carl is totally smitten with his soon-to-be bride and the way Marissa looks at him is wonderful. With some clever positioning we were able to avoid the crowds admiring this huge field of sunflowers. It was seriously breathtaking to be amongst this many flowers. We did have to dodge the occasional tractor pulling children in small cow-shaped carts. There was also a hayride circling and kicking up some (lots) of dirt but it all added to the charm of this hidden gem just outside of Rhode Island. We kind of wanted to keep this place a secret but upon learning that 100% of the proceeds from their $5.00 bunches of cut sunflowers goes to the Make a Wish Foundation of Connecticut we decided that the more people who visit this beautiful place the better.

Marissa and Carl are funny, cool, sweet and just all around awesome. We can’t wait until their wedding at Linden Place next year!
