When we decided to do Sarah and Bryan’s engagement session in Charlestown, the oldest neighborhood in Boston, all we knew about it was what we had seen in The Town. While we never saw Ben Affleck or any bank robberies we were delighted to be among narrow, tree lined streets with pastel painted houses and overflowing window boxes. Sarah borrowed her father’s vintage bicycle and bought a huge, round, coral colored balloon (she actually bought six but would have had to rent a U-Haul to get them home!) We walked up to Bunker Hill where the light was absolutely magical. We were so excited that Sarah and Bryan decided to include props in this session, however we decided that balloons are even more difficult to work with than children and dogs. Sarah and Bryan were great sports and had such a fun sense of humor that we laughed through the entire shoot. We can’t wait for their wedding at The Red Lion Inn this fall!

Mix one part wind with a cute little dog named Oscar, throw in a couple in love and a blue sky and you have yourself a lovely engagement session. Margeaux and Kevin are having their wedding at the Providence Public Library this winter and we couldn’t be more excited! The India Point Park footbridge was the sight of their first date so naturally we took lots of photos there. We were all cracking up the entire time, it’s so nice to have the chance to get to know our couples on a more personal note during these engagement sessions. They brought along their dog, Oscar, who was happy to oblige in having his picture taken. We ended in a somewhat different spot to capture the sunset and create the ever important “alleyway chic” engagement portrait. This isn’t your parents engagement shoot (but they’ll still like it).

Here in New England we are very familiar with having to change plans because of lousy weather. In Melissa and Ronnie’s case, frigid temps and blustery winds postponed their engagement session not once or twice but FOUR times! We finally landed a beautiful April evening on the East Side of Providence. With the city as the backdrop, we walked and talked and worked on capturing the perfect photos to display at their upcoming Newport wedding. Melissa and Ronnie are getting married in exactly one month from today at the Atlantic Beach Club! Cooperation from Mother Nature would be greatly appreciated.
