When people think of a wedding in New England they immediately envision the summer or spring time, but there is something about a winter wedding that we love.  Yes, it’s cold, but it gives a different look and feel to the photos.  We had the pleasure of documenting Holly and Jon’s winter wedding at the Atlantic Beach Club in Newport, RI.  What a beautiful location any time of year!  As I mentioned it does get a little cold in the winter months.  To keep the bridal party and family warm for photos our smart bride and groom made arrangements for us to do formals at the Newport Art Museum.  If it was warm out we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to take pictures in such a beautiful building!  It has been a bit of a mild winter (knock on wood) so we were able to get out there on the beach for some shots.  The colors for the wedding were pink and black, always an elegant combination.  The centerpieces were made by Holly with the help of friends and family.  Everything was made to look frosted over to keep with that winter feeling.  Clockwork was on hand and had everyone dancing all night long!  Our favorite part of the day?  Getting ready.  Holly was so emotional when she put on her dress that we were tearing up as well.  I actually cried going through some of the photos.  Seeing all that love and emotion is part of the reason we love our jobs.

Weddings are usually about a couple, two people joining as one. Ryan and Rachel brought their family together when they got married on New Year’s Eve. Their two year old, Liam, and Rachel’s daughter, Ava, were there to walk their parents down the aisle. The setting for this intimate affair was the historical Slater Mill in Pawtucket, RI. It was a beautiful spot and a photographer’s dream. Rachel said that her and Ryan were like the gears of a machine, two opposites filling in each other’s voids. There is strength in the differences and comfort where they overlap… (I did steal that from a song. I’m not that poetic). We had a blast taking photos with Ryan and Rachel. They are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. This truly was a great way for us to end the year.

Another glorious autumn day! You can’t get a more beautiful time of year. Caroline and Rob were a joy to work with. They are so crazy about each other! Because they are smart people Carline and Rob opted to do a first look. If only we had a video we could show people of it! Anyone who watched would decide to see each other before the ceremony. They had such a great moment. Rob was absolutely blown away by Caroline. Blown away! It was a gorgeous day at one of our favorite venues, Bittersweet Farm. There were so many beautiful details we couldn’t stop taking photos. At one point we were in a corner looking at the backs of our giggling with delight. Yes, we love our job!
