We love getting to know our couples before the big day. Jen and John’s pretty rehearsal dinner at Ocean Cliff was the perfect setting to get acquainted. The gorgeous couple treated many out of town friends and family members to a classic lobster dinner under a tent overlooking the sea. The dinner was so lovely it would have made for a perfect wedding! If we didn’t already know how fab the wedding day would be we were locked in once we experienced the rehearsal dinner. Jen and John looked gorgeous, the florals were stunning, and under the guidance of Jaime Nelson of Eventfully Planned everything ran smoothly. Up next: The Wedding!

It was one of those perfect March days at Oceancliff Resort and Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island.  The kind of day with blue skies hinting at the warm days to come and the brisk wind of the winter that has passed. Downtown Newport was bustling with tourists wishing for spring and Missy and Jamie were getting married!  Oceancliff proved to be the perfect backdrop for Missy & Jamie’s vintage hollywood inspired wedding.  As a young girl Missy and her sister were fascinated by their grandmother’s antique hatpin collection.  Knowing that she wouldn’t be able to travel to the wedding, Missy wanted to incorporate some of these hatpins into her bouquet and the wedding theme then blossomed. The reception area at Oceancliff was transformed from their usual set up.  Instead it was cut in half – one side a fine dining room and the other a dance floor and lounge area.  The room was littered with mercury glass, candles and gorgeous flower arrangements by Toni Chandler (who stayed all night making sure the hydrangeas kept drinking!).  From the first look to the last dance Missy and Jamie were a wonderful reminder of why we love photography.

After doing all of the formals beforehand we headed over to Oceancliff for the ceremony. The weather had called for rain and it did in fact rain all morning. Thankfully it stopped just in time to do pictures. The amazing crew at Oceancliff dried off the grass so that Nicole and Josh could have the outside ceremony they were hoping for. Earlier in the day when Marisa got back from photographing the guys getting ready she told the girls that the boys were having lots of fun. There were some worried looks among the bridesmaids. One asked “Not too much fun I hope!” and Nicole even asked if her dog was still alive! I was a little confused by the reaction until I saw that this crew are definite party people and love to have a good time! Marisa and I were there until the end of the reception. It was crazy! Wish we could have joined in but there was work to be done!
