When we were discussing the engagement shoot with Kate she mentioned that she would like to bring along some props and we were super excited! Props are a fun way to let people know who you are as a couple. They represent your style and sometimes the props even give clues about the wedding decor. Kate outdid herself by hand painting the monogram combining her and Tyler’s initials. It should be mentioned that Kate studies at RISD which explains her amazing sense of style and her many talents. She also handmade the quilt and bunting. The vintage bike is courtesy of her father. The pillows by catstudio pay homage to her home state of Michigan and her current state, Rhode Island. But the best thing Kate brought was her handsome fiancé, Tyler! Blithewold was extra pretty for our session. We were overwhelmed by the gardens and the gorgeous light shining in through the trees. Nothing compares to Blitheworld, right Kate?!

Katie and Tommy brought us back to Bittersweet Farm in Westport, MA for a beautiful September soirée. We always love seeing how our couples transform Bittersweet with their individual styling and these two did not disappoint. Extra twinkle lights hung amongst the rafters (which made the M’s very happy), gorgeous flowers by Arranged Occasions decorated the tables, and not one but three pretty cakes from Sweet Indulgence sat on the dessert table. But let’s not forget the lovely couple! Although we haven’t seen Tommy all suited up as a firefighter we are sure that’s a far cry from the dapper groom we had the pleasure to photograph. And when we commented on Katie’s teeny tiny wedding gown hanging up she quietly said “I’m starving”. Her seamstress told her after the final alteration that she couldn’t eat one extra crumb and we are pretty sure she didn’t! All the hard work paid off and an amazing time was had by all. Here’s to Katie and Tommy and all the butter and cheeseburgers they can possibly eat!

As photographers, we always have an eye on the weather. In a way we are amateur meteorologists. So when it started raining on our way to Sarah and Jim’s engagement shoot we were shocked and disappointed with our lack of weather forecasting skills. We met them at the beach in the rain and broke the news that we’d have to reschedule. Our cameras dislike the rain even more than we do! One hitch, Sarah and Jim were driving home to New York in the morning. They managed to switch things around, bring their dog, and try again the next evening. Everything went perfect the second time around. We managed to fit in a formal shoot at Salvé Regina in Newport, a casual beach shoot, a “fisherman American Gothic” reenactment, and an EndlessSummer II movie poster redo. Oh and Sarah lost the one key to their car on the beach which Melissa found just before it got too dark! Multitasking at its very best! As surfers would say, it was a bitchin’ session.
