Ever since Allie was a little girl her mother, Marilyn, had dreamed about her wedding day. She imagined Allie walking down the grand staircase of the family home, standing in front of the house in her gown, and relaxing in the formal dining room. However, when Allie and Mike chose to have their wedding in Newport, RI, more than an hour from her childhood home, her mom thought those dreams were dashed. Then the idea of a bridal portrait session came to mind! We were over the moon excited because we had already had an epic engagement session with Allie and Mike so we knew we were in for a treat. We were able to accommodate all of Marilyn’s visions as well as Allie’s ideas. What makes these images even sweeter is that the home will be sold soon but the memories will remain forever. XO

Rhode Island is noted for its beautiful shoreline and has become a popular wedding destination over the years.  We have had the pleasure of visiting some of the most gorgeous venues over the years and The Chanler at Cliff Walk takes our breath away every time! The Refinement and beauty of The Gilded Age have been preserved at this 19th century mansion. The Chanler is the only hotel nestled along Newport’s famed Cliff Walk and boasts acres of manicured gardens while overlooking the sparkling waters of the Atlantic and pristine sands of Easton’s Beach. It was at this perfect locale that Liz and George had their rehearsal dinner. Family and friends gathered on the lawn and the patio enjoying cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres and conversation. The evening was a perfect precursor to their wedding the next day at the Hyatt Regency which will be featured on our blog very soon!

We have been waiting and waiting to do an engagement session at Buttonwood Farm! An entire acre of sunflowers is planted each year and when they bloom it’s pure magic. We were overjoyed to go this summer with Marissa and Carl for their engagement session. You can’t say Marissa without using the word adorable in the same sentence. You also can’t say Marissa without Marisa thinking you’re talking to her. (they are pronounced differently, people!) Carl is totally smitten with his soon-to-be bride and the way Marissa looks at him is wonderful. With some clever positioning we were able to avoid the crowds admiring this huge field of sunflowers. It was seriously breathtaking to be amongst this many flowers. We did have to dodge the occasional tractor pulling children in small cow-shaped carts. There was also a hayride circling and kicking up some (lots) of dirt but it all added to the charm of this hidden gem just outside of Rhode Island. We kind of wanted to keep this place a secret but upon learning that 100% of the proceeds from their $5.00 bunches of cut sunflowers goes to the Make a Wish Foundation of Connecticut we decided that the more people who visit this beautiful place the better.

Marissa and Carl are funny, cool, sweet and just all around awesome. We can’t wait until their wedding at Linden Place next year!
