Here at M.Studios we don’t let 22 degree weather stop us from an engagement session. You see, Kathleen and Liam were in town from NYC finalizing their wedding details so we had this one chance to make this shoot happen. Kathleen was able to secure a gorgeous, natural light-filled loft right on Lower Thames Street in Newport. This space could not have been more gorgeous as we literally gasped when we walked in. The colors and styling paired with our gorgeous couple made the start of our time together a dream! With a little inspiration from Lauren Conrad (come on, EVERYBODY loves her) we utilized the loft to capture some interesting angles while Kathleen and Liam danced in the living room downstairs. Once we had explored the indoor space we bravely wandered outdoors. A skill set we have learned over the years is how to photograph quickly under pressure. Whether it’s a race against the clock at a reception or an impending rain shower, we know how to get the shot without unsettling our clients. You could probably count the number of minutes we were outside on two hands! It was THAT cold. We took a quick walk to the water followed by a drive to Brenton Point State Park, which on any given day could quite possibly be the windiest spot in Rhode Island. Yes, we all had windburn, yes all of our eyes were watering and YES it was amazing and so very worth it. While warming up in the car we opened two beautiful cards and two gorgeous necklaces gifted to us by Kathleen and Liam expressing their gratitude and excitement toward having us as their wedding photographers. We feel exactly the same way.

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful way to ring in the new year than with Chelsea and Zach’s vintage, winter wedding. Set in beautiful Bristol, RI, their wedding was dripping with vintage and handmade details. Chelsea personally made anything and everything she could, from the candles at each table setting to beautiful wooden signs with declarations of love. She was absolutely stunning in her long-sleeved lace La Sposa gown. Her updo perfectly showcased the peekaboo back and her golden, sparkly Badgly Mischka open toe heels completed her look. When Zach saw her walk down the isle he was clearly floored. After the heartfelt ceremony we stopped by Coggeshall Farm for some portraits as the sunset began and then made our way to the docks outside of the Bristol Harbor Inn for more portraits just as the sunset was in full bloom. While it was certainly chilly (freezing!) it was well worth it as the sky lit up this already shining couple. Inside the DeWolf Tavern guests were treated to a warm and cozy atmosphere lit with twinkle lights and candlelight. The highlight of the dessert table was the gorgeous cake and treats made by Chelsea’s sister, Jocelyn. The detail she put into these desserts reflects the deep love between these two sisters, and what’s better than a love you can eat! A lovely sit down dinner was followed by upbeat dancing as the reception went into full party mode. Friends and family had the most wonderful time while Chelsea and Zach never stopped smiling the entire day and night. Their happiness on this day will be followed by years and years of true love and bliss for sure.

Bittersweet Farm is always a delight, and with a couple as sweet as Rachel and Joe we knew we couldn’t go wrong. We had the pleasure of meeting Rachel and Joe along with his girls for their family engagement session last year. We had a wonderful time getting to know everyone so when the big day rolled around we felt like part of the family! Although it was quite chilly (like really, really cold) Joe waited out on the lawn to see Rachel for their first look. Once he saw his stunning bride in her strapless, lace overlay gown with a vintage fur stole smiles, kisses, and a few tears followed. Soon after, the girls joined in for some quick portraits on the always stunning grounds. A beautiful, intimate ceremony in the chapel which included heartfelt readings from each of the girls was followed by cocktail hour and the reception downstairs. Tables were styled with baby’s breath in found vessels wrapped in lace on top of burlap runners which perfectly enhanced the rustic charm of Bittersweet. DJ Corey Young had everyone moving after dinner which was great considering all of the decadent cakes from Gregg’s everyone was eating for dessert! The overall feel of the day was one of love and family, two families blended seamlessly under the twinkle lights in Westport and we were so happy to be a part of it.
