Wedding photography is our “thing”, but it’s not just about the photos.  There are a lot of amazing photographers who take beautiful pics.  A huge part of what we do is taking care of our people.  We are there for our bride and groom and not just to give them gorgeous imagery.  We are there to say “Yes, you’re Mom is being a little nuts but don’t worry she is just excited!”  We will remind you to smile, get you to cocktail hour on time, make sure you don’t forget to take that photo of the high school friends you haven’t seen in 10 years, tell you when you have something stuck in your teeth, and have a plan for a relaxing stress free wedding day. Experience and confidence help us radiant a calm vibe that keeps everything photo related relaxed and fun.  We will refer you to amazing vendors like Aline Sarkis Beauty.  Doris and Pat live out of town so they asked for some recommendations on vendors.  We’ve worked with a wedding vendor or two so we are always happy to share our faves.  We will make sure someone is there to cover every part of the wedding day you want like the guys getting ready.  There may be two M’s but sometimes we can’t be in two places at once.  This is when we call in our trustee assistant, Lucia!  She was able to stay with the boys for us to make sure they weren’t forgotten.  Last but not least we make your photo dreams a reality!  Doris and Pat were really hoping for sunset photos by the lighthouse at Castle Hill Inn.  Working with Molly at the venue we were able to find time in between courses to jump in a golf cart and head over!  Since there are two of us we work fast.  After ten minutes of shooting and a Leeza Gibbons sighting our couple were back at their wedding dancing the night away.

Weddings are a team effort.  First the bride and groom find the right vendors to execute their plan.  It’s this group of wedding professionals’ job to take these ideas and make them a reality for their clients.  Jessie and Dan hired a literal dream team for their Little Compton wedding and they needed it!  This wedding was a wild ride from start to finish!  Their team included us of course!  If there is a team being considered a dream we are on it!  😉  Stop Go Love was also on board to help document the day on video.  The decor was simply amazing thanks to the help of Mimi Whitmarsh and Rentals Unlimited.  We saw a dessert table from Confectionary Designs that looked too good to eat!  We can’t forget the real MVP of the day was Exquisite Events!  I don’t know how they coordinated all the moving parts of this day, but they did!  Referring to this wedding as a wild ride is no exaggeration.  There was an acapella group from Maine performing at the ceremony and cocktail hour, the biggest flash mob I’ve ever seen involving people from all over the world who learned the dance from a youtube video made by the sister of the bride, a video presentation of the planning of the wedding, a photo booth, an after party with an infinite amount of pizza…  Needless to say it was an amazing celebration that took a ton of planning.  The end result was well worth it – a one of a kind party to kick off the start of a beautiful marriage!

When someone mentions the town of Newport it immediately brings images of summer to mind.  I imagine doing things like walking on the Cliffwalk, laying on the beach, or eating ice cream on Thames St.  Now imagine doing these fun Newport activities in the winter…  No.  Just no.  When Melissa and Justin told us they were planning on a winter wedding at Oceancliff it left us with the usual mixed feelings we have about winter weddings.  We normally shoot in the summer so winter weddings feel new and inspiring.  The quality of light is different as well as the colors of the environment.  Plus there is always the possibility of magical snow photos!  The downside?  Winter means cold and if there is one thing we hate at M.Studios it’s being cold.  We are strong ladies who can push through any difficulties but the cold is our most dreaded adversary.  Sometimes beautiful images come at a price so we suffer through silently for our clients and heave a huge sigh of relief when our bride says “I need to warm up for a couple of minutes”  Amen!  Melissa and Justin were worth the frostbite.  These two are the absolute sweetest people you could meet.  Oceancliff was the first venue they toured and nothing compared after that.  It was the perfect setting for their December wedding.  Melissa had high hopes that it might snow on the wedding day.  Her mom told her that if it did snow it was her grandparents way of telling Melissa that they were there with her in spirit.  They passed away in 1997. Melissa’s Nana left her a ring, the ring that Justin would later propose with. There was no snow in the forecast on the wedding day, but as they did the first look, all of a sudden, it started to flurry!  Her parents were watching from the window in their room.  The snow lasted for a minute, but we were able to get photos where you can see the flurries coming down.  Capturing moments like this is one of the most rewarding parts of our job.
