This wasn’t our first time to visit Blithewold Mansion with Jacquee and Matt. We were there with them once before for their engagement session. One of our favorite parts of our job is documenting the growth of a family — from engagement shoots to wedding shoots to maternity shoots to family portraits! And this maternity session was particularly exciting because Jacquee and Matt have been waiting for six long years to welcome a baby.

It’s so much fun to photograph this couple; not only because they are incredibly sweet and thoughtful, but because Jacquee has incredible style! She picked the perfect outfit for the setting and looked equal parts fairy princess and earth mother with just a dash of boho babe in the woods. Gorgeous!

The couple sent us a note after our session that made us cry, thanking us for documenting their life’s fleeting moments and making the experience “magic.” Jacquee and Matt — the magic is in you! And especially in that new little life you brought into the world.

Kristen and Eric had the biggest wedding ever at Belle Mer in Newport, RI. We didn’t think it was possible to have this many friends, but if you meet Kristen and Eric, you’d absolutely understand why people want to be around them. They are so much fun! If you needed proof look at the dancing photos from their reception! Enough said. After we posted some sneak peek pictures from the wedding on our social media, we got tons of messages from people saying they wish they were friends with them. Same!

Even their dog, Jackson, couldn’t stand to be away from them for a moment! He, of course, couldn’t have stolen the show from that beautiful bride, but he got a lot of laughs when he ran down the aisle after the formal processional.

Eric and Kristen planned one of the most beautiful tributes to a passed loved one we’ve ever seen at a reception. Eric lost his mother to cancer. In her memory he and his mother’s best friend danced to the song “Drops of Jupiter,” which was written by someone who lost their mom to cancer. Eric’s mother must have been an incredible person to have inspired such a beautiful moment. And after spending the day with Eric and listening to the way his friends talk about him, we know that he must have been a truly wonderful son.

We have no doubt that just like his mom, Eric and Kristen will lead a full life together that will inspire others for generations to come! Happy everything, Eric and Kristen!

This was very nearly the Manhattan engagement session that almost wasn’t! Abbie and Bryan are super busy people. No surprise because only very important people hire us! Unfortunately it sometimes makes scheduling difficult. Abbie started a new job that required travel, there was bad weather, we got booked with portraits as the fall arrived. Let’s not forget the weddings that were already scheduled every weekend! We must have rescheduled this session about five times! But then the deadline for Abbie and Bryan to print their save the dates was looming and we made it happen.

There was some rain in the forecast for the day we met this fabulous couple at the Seaport in Manhattan, but we decided to just go with it! We had no choice! It was now or never. It only sprinkled a little, and we think it was to our advantage. Sometimes, they wet everything down on a movie set before filming because the water brings out the colors and adds a little reflection. We think we got the same effect from the rain! Look at those wet cobblestones! And the blue of Abbie’s dress just popped!

We’re so glad we were able to at last make this engagement session in Manhattan happen with Abbie and Bryan. As Abbie’s cookie from Funny Face Bakery says in the last image … fucking finally!
